Apple To Release An Augmented Reality Device This Yearshopahs@protonmail.com
For a while now, we have been hearing rumors that Apple could be working on their own pair of augmented reality (AR) based smart glasses. In fact, it has even been suggested that such a device could launch as soon as this year, which analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is reasserting in his latest report to investors.
According to Kuo, he believes that Apple is set to launch an augmented reality device in 2021. While he does not explicitly state that these are the rumored smart glasses we’ve been hearing about, it’s hard to imagine what else he could mean. Launching a pair of AR glasses would indeed be a bold step for Apple.
This is because AR glasses have launched in the past only to kind of fall flat. When Google launched the Google Glasses, it had a lot of hype surrounding it, but it ultimately failed. We’re not sure if the world has progressed far along enough for us to become more supportive of these types of technology, so it would indeed be quite a risk for the company to take.
It has been suggested that the initial models of the Apple smart glasses will be heavily dependent on the iPhone for its connectivity and rendering capabilities, and that it will act mostly as a display. In any case, while Kuo is generally accurate with his predictions, it should still be taken with a grain of salt for now.
