Apple Could Ditch Charging Cables In Its iPhones Next

Right now, as part of Apple’s apparent move to lessen their environmental impact, the company has opted to ditch the chargers included with its iPhones, which in turn also reduces the size of their iPhone packaging. The company does at the very least provide a USB-C to Lightning cable that users can use with a compatible charger.

That being said, it seems that in the future, we might not even be able to expect a charging cable at all. According to a report from 9to5Mac, a reader sent them a survey which apparently came from Apple. The survey asks questions like whether or not users use the accessories that are supplied to them in the box, such as the charging cable and the SIM ejector tool.

This has led to speculation that maybe Apple is trying to find out if removing these accessories could be next on their list. The company did previously send out a survey about the USB charging bricks which ultimately led to their removal, so it isn’t unreasonable to think that this survey could potentially dictate the future of included iPhone accessories.

We wouldn’t be surprised if Apple were to once again cite environmental reasons for the removal of these accessories, but at the same time, it’s not hard to see that this could be another opportunity for the company to increase profit margins while also generating revenue by selling these accessories separately.
